This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to manage the environmental management strategy of the power generation facility. It involves the implementation of policies and procedures related to environmental legislation and regulations that impact the power generation industry.

Environmental legislationis a collection of laws and regulations aimed at protecting the environmentfrom harmful actions.Federal, state and local governments jointly administer environmentalprotection laws in Australia.

Competency in this unit requires the ability to plan, implement, manage and monitor environmental management strategies. Individuals will, in general, work as an operator with responsibility for environmental management systems, in a power generation facility.

No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

The application of the skills and knowledge described in this unit may require a licence or training permit to practice in the workplace where work is carried out on gas and electrical installations. Additional conditions may apply under state and territory legislative and regulatory licensing requirements.

Assessment Tasks

Include guidelines about how well the candidate has to perform a task for it to be judged satisfactory.
